Journey to East Malaysia

We've returned from our trip to Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, East Malaysia.

The company was excellent, we had plenty of good fun and the hotel was OH-SO-GOOD!

Day 1 - Arrived at Shangri-la Tanjung Aru Resort at 11.30pm. The check-in was a breeze and we were pleased that the hotel has put Jamie's baby cot in the room prior to our arrival. The room was spacious and extremely comfortable. Didn't take us long to drift into dreamland.

Day 2 - Felt totally rejuvenated after a good night's sleep. We took a leisurely breakfast which has a good spread of food and freshly squeezed juice. They even have frozen yogurt for kids! Yum! While waiting for BJ and Julia to arrive, Jamie and I decided to check out the Kids' Club first. The kids' club is really big and has lots of activities! When the rest of the gang arrived. Julia, Josh and I decided to sign up for the Friday's Kids Evening Party, while the adults go about doing their own boring stuff like shopping and eating seafood.

The Party was a blast! There was a magic show, we also had games like duck duck goose and limbo rock. This is what i wrote in my travel journal (yes! from this trip onwards, i will be keeping a travel journal that documents my travel experiences.. urm... please pardon my less than perfect spelling and disjointed sentence.. i should get better with each successive trip :)

"Today is a variy special day. Tomorrow i will go to the beech. Now i will go to the kidd's club. Whoa! Diss is the Best Kids Club Party! Mommy I shaked money out of my ear!"

Day 3 - The adults decided that they wanted to do more shopping in the morning. So Julia and I opted to go to the kids club for some t-shirt painting, instead. At 2pm, our folks picked us up and we all headed for a Klias sunset river cruise. This is a totally back to nature experience! We took a boat out into the meandering river and saw probosis monkeys, wild water buffalos and also fireflies! Mommie said the boat ride is likened to that of a jungle cruise in Disneyland, except, this is for REAL! This place is so untouched by humans, there was no pollution to speak of, it almost paradise lost and found!

Day 4 - It's time to bid farewell. While Daddie and Mommie are busy packing up, Julia and I went to the kids club again. Oh.. i'm so gonna miss this place!

As i said, the company we had for this trip was great! I overheard my folks planning another trip with my friends' parents. Some destinations on the drawing board includes... mauritius, hokkaido, genting. Woooohoo!!! I can't wait to go on another family holiday with my friends again!! :)

Good news? Bad News? It's back to the drawing board

Woke up to some news today. I can’t decipher if it’s good news or bad news, to be happy or to be sad. My reaction when I read the message was “Well, ok…….” And a few seconds later and reading the email many more times, scrutinizing every word and number, I asked myself, “Come on… seriously, do you expect to pass?”

Yesh… I’ve failed my dissertation. It’s what I’ve expected. Surely this piece of shit which I’m embarrassed to show anyone and literature which I’ve written and cannot understand myself, will not pass the board of examiners right? But somewhere deep (well maybe not that deep) inside, there’s this little glimmer of hope - and a little wish - that perhaps the examiner may be blind and he’ll just give me a PASS!

Honestly, I’m not sad because if this piece of shit can be graded as a Pass, then something must be very wrong with the University, it must be sham and the school has to be a degree mill! So now I know, the school does have QC and QA – what a relieve!

Mixed reactions aside, there’s one thing I’m very clear. I’m feeling good now! I’ve got 6 months from April to get the dissertation pieced together again (surely with the skeleton and literature all done, it can’t be that difficult to re-jig the work to make it look better right). This time, I’m gonna make it right and the next email from Hull will be a congratulatory note, telling me to get my Masters regalia ready for convocation J

Oozing love for Jamie

Joey is totally infatuated with her baby sister. She shows her love for Jamie through little things that she says..

Yesterday, i was trying to squeeze myself out of the a very tight parking lot, when she exclaimed "Mommie, don't squeeze Jamie, she will not love you!!"

Then at a supermarket, she was feeling cold, ran over to hug me (or rather my tummy) and said, "Jamie, I'm cold.... are you cold, let me hug you to keep you warm!"

In the car, "Jamie, since you are going to be born in October, i'm going to make you a pumpkin suit to celebrate Halloween with me"

Before bedtime everynight, "Goodnite Jamie, I love you!"

Ooh... the things my sweet little girl can say.....

Breaking the news

Something amazing happened! Right after lunch, i had this fuzzy feeling in my tummy and i could almost feel as if Jamie is growing. And then came this sudden urge to storm into my boss's room and tell her I'm pregnant. It's like as if Jamie is egging me on, telling me not to keep him/her a secret anymore.... could almost hear him/her saying "Mommie!! It's time to tell your boss! Go now! Go NOW!"

I've been procrastinating for a long time waiting for the perfect time to break the news to my boss. And, Jamie got the better of me and controlled the whole situation!! Ohh... I've got this feeling that my Jamie's gonna be one helleva chilli padi man!

Big Sister

Joey has been very very sweet. Ever since we told her abt the impending arrival of Jamie and her promotion to Jie Jie hood, she has been very thoughtful and loving towards her little sibling.

A few days ago, she found an empty mineral water bottle in hubbie's car and asked if she could have it. We asked her what she wanted it for and she said she'll like to make a rattle for her baby sister. She said she will to put in some rice, cover the top with some paper and baby sister can use it as a rattle. How creative and thoughtful of my little girl!

One nite, she before she went to bed, she came over to my room and said in a soft sweet voice "Goodnite Jamie, sleep tight". She did this on her own initiative with no prompting from any adults.

I think my little girl is going to be a wonderful jie jie!

Random thoughts

At the last visit to Ann, i was prescribed Hormones pills and some multivits. I'm not trying to be geh kiang or what... but i dun think i will wanna take any of those hormones pills.. Some questions ran through my mind

1) Is it really neccessary to eat them?
2) Ain't i already getting an overdose of "hormones" from eating hormnoes pumped poultry?
3) How would it affect my baby in the long term? I've heard of girls getting their periods at P4!! And it's all because of "too much hormones".

For now, i will let my instincts take over the gynae's logic and refuse the hormone pills.... So it's to the trash, my dear hormones pills!
